Chairman's
Corner
I hope your summer is going well. I
just wanted to point out a few things. The
ASIS Member-Get-A-Member campaign runs until
September 30 so you still have time to recruit a
new ASIS member and the chance for prizes to top
recruiters. Also, don't forget
the ASIS Seminar and Exhibits in Dallas, TX
October 12-15. Register and make your hotel
arraignments soon. The chapter has a free
ticket to award to one member. There will be
a drawing at the August meeting. Any current
paid member (National and Chapter) who is in good
standing, who will be attending the conference in
October, who is not a national board member is
eligible to enter for the drawing. Bring
your business card for the drawing.
The plans for the October CPP Review
program are coming along. If you hold one or
more of the three ASIS certifications, you will be
receiving an invitation to participate by
presenting a short discussion on how your
certification has benefited you.
Be
Safe!

Free Webinar - Sponsored by
Diebold
A sound logical security strategy
is designed to protect an organization's data
assets and the networks on which those assets
reside. But when you're taking inventory of such
assets, are you remembering to include the
information that's inherent to your physical and
electronic security systems? From video systems to
access control, perimeter protection to identity
management and more, logical security is as
critical to your physical and electronic security
systems as it is to your sensitive business data.
A security integrator can be a valuable partner in
helping bring logical security strategies full
circle to ensure the protection of all of the
elements in an organization's security
program.
This Webinar
will:
Explore risks and threats to the
logical security of physical and electronic
security solutions,
Establish the case for logical
protection of physical and electronic security
systems,
Identify the role security
integrators can play in logical security
engagements,
Illustrate the ways a partnership
with a security integrator can enhance the
security of your systems and devices, and
Identify the end-user's role in
protecting their physical and electronic security
systems.

geared towards system improvement. Learn how to
establish an internal auditing program consistent

Chapter
Dues

As you know, the Las Vegas Chapter is
solely funded by member dues. Member dues
for 2010 remain at previous years' amount of
$30.00. Each member will be receiving an
e-mail from the Chapter Chairman via a service
called Intuit Billing Manager. This free
service allows the chapter to maintain a list of
members, invoice and track payments via a secure
online service. We elected not to go with
the additional cost required to process credit
card payments. You will be able to pay the
invoice with cash, check or money order in person
at any meeting. You may also remit payment
by check or money order to our mailing
address. In either case, the invoice will
contain a second remittance page that contains
your invoice number. Please bring that with
you or include it with your payment so we can
insure proper credit. In the past we have
had companies pay for the member dues and have had
difficulty determining which member that payment
was for. We will not be billing the two ASIS
Life Members or three student members. We
thank you for your continued support of the Las
Vegas Chapter!
Dues paid by members are
not deductible as charitable contributions for
federal income tax purposes. However,
membership dues are deductible for members under
Section 162 of the Internal Revenue Code as an
ordinary and necessary business
expense. |
