January 2009

Chairman's Corner

Welcome to 2009, and another year for ASIS International, Las Vegas Chapter.  I'd like to thank the membership for your support and trust in allowing me to serve as your chapter chairman.  Please welcome Derk Boss, our new vice chairman, Carri Holms, our new secretary, and Glenda Grey-Meyer, our returning treasurer.  We owe thanks to Steve Baker, our outgoing chapter chairman, and Steve Young, our outgoing secretary for all their hard work.

We have some interesting speakers already lined up for the first part of the year, starting in January with Jane Poulton from International SOS.  If you or someone you know wants to sponsor a luncheon, please contact Mike Wiley, our program chairman.  I will be seeking your input about interests regarding speakers, events, fund raising and other topics in future communications.  Chapter member D.A. Nichter will be sponsoring a CPP review study group.  See the announcement later in this newsletter.

I hope to see you all at the meeting.  Feel free to call or email me any time you have any questions, comments or suggestions.  If you have attended monthly meetings recently, I thank you for your support.  If you have not been to a meeting for awhile, come on down!  We have a great time, it's a great networking opportunity, and we usually learn something from each other.  Bring a fellow member or guest with you while you're at it.

The Private Investigators Licensing Board is asking for volunteers to take the newly written Private Investigators exam.  There are two exams with approximately 150 questions each.  As subject matter experts, we are asking for your comments as to the relevance of the questions being asked, the quantity of questions being asked, the amount of time it takes to complete the exam and any other comments you think may assist us in finalizing these exams.  The ultimate goal is to have 2 or 3 versions with 100 questions each.  Thank you for your time and support in this process.  Volunteers will take the exam and provide feedback after the January meeting.
